This PTA supported program, in conjunction with KROC aims to help pre-adolescent kids become more physically fit, promote an active and healthy lifestyle & combat the onset of childhood obesity while having fun! This is accomplished through various games & drills, which help improve speed, agility, hand/eye coordination, critical thinking, flexibility, and your child's overall fitness.


Our 2023 Spring Running Club participates in the Kids Run the OC event on May 6th, 2023. Our pack will be running according to their age.  Please CLICK HERE for more information on the 2023 event. ***Registration closes APRIL 1st, 2023 for KROC***

Last year we had TWO Running Club participants who finished in the Top 3 & Top 10 for their age group. 


Come join our Cool Coyotes this season as we get fit while having fun and make new memories!

Registration for the 2023 Fall Cool Coyote Running is closed.

All registered Cool Coyotes also need to complete the Online Pledge prior to the first day of practice (CLICK HERE to complete the online pledge). - Note, video has old location.  Currently meeting behind MPR room for 2022

 

Not sure if you already completed the online Pledge? We get it!  Life is busy.  See the list of students that have completed the Pledge.

Registration Cost

  • Only $40 per child, $35 per child for multiple children within same household.

  • Please note: Due to safety reasons we need a certain coach/helper to student ratio.  This is a 100% parent volunteer run program, and it is imperative that we have enough parent volunteers.  If you are able to volunteer, please sign up on registration day!


What Does My Registration Include?

  • 8 practice days (Fall is limited, MORE days for Spring 2022 Session)

  • Cool Coyote Running Shirt* (Spring 2023 runners will use same shirt from Fall 2022 - Size up may be necessary)

  • Cool Coyote fun gear for all Cool Coyote Running Club registrants

  • Weekly nutritional challenges to promote a healthy lifestyle

  • A program that promotes good sportsmanship, healthy competition, confidence, and our school values

Cool Coyote Running Club is a fun and exciting way to get some great exercise and learn healthy eating habits!  Even if your child is not a runner, they are sure to enjoy "being part of the pack".  Join us!

09/28/22-Practice #2
Homework: 

  • Nutritional Challenge:  Drink at least 1/2 of your body weight in ounces each day.  Drink at least one bottle at school and one before practice.

  • Nutritional Challenge: Substitute all of the sodas and juices you drink in a week with water. How hard is it to give up soda and juice?

Logging Mileage

Every time you run, log your mileage on this form.  Every Cool Coyote is required to run/walk at least one-mile a week as homework with their family.  At the end of the program, students will have completed a minimum of 25.2 miles (this includes laps run during practices and exercises) and then run their final mile of their marathon (26.2) at the Kids Run the OC event.  We will track each students mileage from the information provided in this form.  So it is important to complete this form weekly.  If your child runs a few times within the week, this form can be completed after each run.  Multiple entries in one week are accepted.

Coming May 2023

KROC is our final running event at the OC Fairgrounds.  The OC Marathon runs the event, which hosted over 10,000 students last year from over 112 schools.  In order for your child to receive their medal, they must be registered for KROC.  This registration opens in spring and is an additional registration with the OC Marathon (approximately $29).

By the end of the Cool Coyote program, each student will have accumulated the equivalent of 25.2 miles of fun activities. And will be ready to finish their own Marathon by completing their final mile at the Kids Run the OC held in conjunction with The OC Marathon finish line events at the OC Fair and Event Center on Saturday, May 6th, 2023.

We also take part of the annual TPSF Dino Dash in November.  Especially the 5k where runners receive a medal, such as these...  (There's a 2k option, but isn't timed, no receives a medal.)
